Loan Options
Angus Health and Social Care Partnership have a range of equipment solutions available for loan (free of charge) from Independent Living Angus. Small adaptations can also be arranged once owner/ landlord permissions have been obtained, usually free of charge. There is a weekly cost associated with the community alarm and tele-care service.
It is very important that the Angus Health and Social Care Partnership know that the equipment they loan is suitable for both you, other household members and your home.

Angus Council provide a Community Alarm Service. They can fit an alarm unit in your home that operates through your phone line. If the alarm is activated, a member of their call centre will contact you and assistance can be provided from community alarm teams who are based in Arbroath, Brechin, Carnoustie and Forfar.
The Community Alarm Service provide a 24-hour service, every day of the year. A community alarm can be provided if you have an illness, are frail or have a disability which limits your ability to live at home alone, have been in hospital and need some extra support when you come home, or have someone caring for you who needs extra support. There is a weekly cost associated with the community alarm service but we will explain this to you.
A range of accessories can also be provided with your community alarm system, such as a falls detector. A falls detector will raise an automatic call to the monitoring centre, who in turn will arrange assistance through a responder. There is an additional charge of £1.00 per week for accessories.
There are also a few items which you can trial for a period of 4 weeks if you are not sure whether they will be suitable for you - ie an Echo dot, remote control plugs, night lights.

We are also trying to raise awareness in relation to Purple Alert. Purple Alert is a free mobile phone app designed by people living with dementia and their carers with Alzheimer’s Scotland, Police Scotland, Social Work, Dementia Friends, Dementia Friends Scotland, Health and Social Care Partnerships and telecare services.
The app allows carers to share the person living with dementia’s profile (with consent) if they lose their way and allows for eyes and ears on the ground immediately helping to find them.

If this has happened without you trying to, and is something that you would like help with, you may find that exercising or participating in group activities may help. If you don't feel confident, we have found going with someone you know might help.

Angus Council also provide a Welfare rights service which provides free, independent and confidential advice on benefits and debt options for people living in Angus. The service includes:
- helping you to challenge benefit decisions
- completing forms
- helping you resolve benefit problems
- homelessness issues
- helping you to get all the benefits you are entitled to
- debt advice and options (including rent and mortgage arrears)
- providing advice on welfare reform issues
- assisting with charitable and benevolent fund applications
