Description

The Lifeline Connect+ base/home unit comes with a personal alert button and is designed to help people continue to live independently by giving help at the touch of a button. It can also be set to contact a Monitoring Centre when triggered by a sensor such as a smoke alarm. USAGE: When an alert button is pressed or a sensor triggers an alarm, a connection is made down a phone line to staff at a Monitoring Centre. They will then talk to the user (through a speaker on the base unit, without the need for the phone to be picked up), discuss their needs and then send help if this is required. The base unit can also be set up to call a carer/relative prior to calling the monitoring centre. FEATURES: The Gem+ is a discreet personal alert button that comes with a neck cord, belt clip and wrist strap and is approx 4.9 x 4.8 x 1.6cm (2 x 2 x 0.5in). The Gem+ is particularly suitable where a user has limited dexterity as the button is very easy to press and larger than the Amie+. The Lifeline Connect+ base unit accommodates up to 35 specific alerts when used in conjunction with other pendants or sensors such as smoke detectors and door entry systems. When connected to Passive Infra-Red Sensors the base unit can also be used to inform the Monitoring Centre of an intruder when the house is unoccupied, but someone will need to set it on exiting the house. The sensors can also be used to monitor inactivity if there is a danger of someone becoming ill or falling. The base unit includes a reminder feature where up to 6 reminder messages (e.g. remember to feed cat) can be remotely recorded by a friend or relative using a normal telephone. This feature can be used for medication reminders and is particularly useful for medication that cannot be kept in a pill dispenser e.g. liquids or injections. (Note that the reminder system only allows 4 reminders across 24 hours, each of which must be separated by at least 4 hours. The messages can be modified or deleted at any time with the given security code). Other features include Critical Management Visit monitoring, where a carer has a pendant and uses it to inform the unit that they have arrived for the planned visit. If the carer does not arrive within a given window then an alert is raised. NOTE: There is a small fee payable to remain connected to a Monitoring Centre and as the fee varies between Monitoring Centres we recommend that enquiries are made with the individual Monitoring Centre concerned. The personal alert button is waterproof up to 1m (to IP67 standard) and can be worn in the shower (wearing it in the bath should however be avoided where possible). The speech coming over the home/base unit can be heard even through two closed doors or when on a different floor of the house. It has a range of up to 50m within buildings and automatically reports when the battery charge is low. The base unit has 30 hours of stand-by operation in the event of a power failure and is approx 19.5 x 21.5 x 3.6cm (7.5 x 8.5 x 1.5i
