Cancer

Cancer is a disease resulting from uncontrolled growth and division of abnormal cells. Some cancers may spread into other tissues in the body. There are many different types of cancer and therefore the symptoms are highly variable and may include a persistent lump, weight loss and other unexplained changes in the body.


There are 5 main cancer groups and this will depend on the type of cell they started from. These groups are:


• Carcinomas

• Sarcomas

• Lymphomas and leukaemia’s (cancer of the blood cells)

• Myeloma

• Brain and spinal cord cancers
