Rehabilitation training for the visually impaired
If you have a permanent and severe sight impairment that cannot be corrected by glasses and are having difficulty in walking around safely and/or using public transport, then you may benefit from further advice or assessment.
Angus Council/ Angus Health and Social Care Partnership have an agreement with North East Sensory Services to provide a range of support for people with visual impairments. The service aims to identify any practical problems you may be having, determine a rehab training programme, discuss any concerns that you, your family or carer may have and make referrals to other agencies, as well as offer advice and information.
This service can also offers Mobility Training, so that you can learn how to use a white cane or other techniques to assist you to get around safely. The Rehabilitation Worker will also provide basic advice on Guide Dogs.

Alternatively, First Contact Occupational Therapy offers free and impartial advice about a wide range of assistive equipment and supports that are available in Angus.
