Loan Options
Angus Health and Social Care Partnership have a range of equipment solutions available for loan (free of charge) from Independent Living Angus. Small adaptations can also be arranged once owner/ landlord permissions have been obtained, usually free of charge. There is a weekly cost associated with the community alarm and tele-care service.
It is very important that the Angus Health and Social Care Partnership know that the equipment they loan is suitable for both you, other household members and your home.

There are a range of supports available for carers who provide unpaid and regular care for a relative or friend. You may be eligible for a carers assessment if:
- you regularly provide a lot of care to a relative or friend who is disabled, frail, ill, has a mental-health problem or a drug or alcohol problem
- you are planning to provide care in the future, for example, for someone who is about to leave hospital
- the needs of the person you are caring for have changed, either because they need more help or you feel that you are not able to manage
Angus Carers Centre can provide information, advice and a range of services to carers located in Angus. The services include:
- carers support groups
- counselling
- newsletters
- a home sitting service
Angus Young Carers can also provide support to someone aged 18 or under who helps to look after or support a member of their family due to:
- physical or learning disability
- mental illness
- physical illness
- drug or alcohol problems
- chronic or terminal illness

If you have a hearing aid, the NHS Tayside audiology clinic at Kingscross Health and Community Care Centre, Dundee can also provide you with advice on equipment items that can assist you. You may also be able to trial the items that are most suited to you and the hearing aids you have.

Fit for Work Scotland is a service for people who are in work. It provides free, confidential and impartial advice to help people return to, and stay in, work after a period of sickness absence.
There are two elements to the service:
- Advice - access to health and work advice for you, your employer and GP through a website and freephone helpline
- Assessment - if you reach four weeks sickness absence, or are expected to, you can be referred by your GP
You will receive a telephone assessment with a qualified health professional, who will identify all the obstacles preventing you returning to work. From this assessment, a return to work plan will be produced with recommendations to facilitate a safe and sustained return to work. This will include both health and non-health recommendations according to your work and life circumstances.
You are eligible for the assessment service if you've been off work for four weeks, or expected to be off work for four weeks and have a reasonable prospect of returning to work.

Dundee & Angus Independent Living Centre is a place where you can try a range of equipment items free of charge. The centre is open 9-5pm weekdays and you can visit during these time or phone to make an appointment to ensure someone is free to show you around. There is also the 195 service, which is a free directory enquiries service. If you are unable to read or hold a telephone directory because of your sight loss or other disability, you can make use of the service. You can use this service whether or not BT is your telephone company.
To apply for this service, call for free on 0800 587 0195 and ask for an application form. As well as filling out details about yourself, you will also need someone like a doctor, nurse or other medical practitioner to countersign the form before you send it off.
Once you have successfully signed up to the service, all you do is dial 195 and you can speak to an operator who will find the number you require. If you ask to be connected to the number you require, you will then be charged for the call you make according to the call package that you have with your provider.
