Local groups that support and advise carers
There are a range of supports available for carers who provide unpaid and regular care for a relative or friend. You may be eligible for a carers assessment if:
- you regularly provide a lot of care to a relative or friend who is disabled, frail, ill, has a mental-health problem or a drug or alcohol problem
- you are planning to provide care in the future, for example, for someone who is about to leave hospital
- the needs of the person you are caring for have changed, either because they need more help or you feel that you are not able to manage
Angus Carers Centre can provide information, advice and a range of services to carers located in Angus. The services include:
- carers support groups
- counselling
- newsletters
- a home sitting service
Angus Young Carers can also provide support to someone aged 18 or under who helps to look after or support a member of their family due to:
- physical or learning disability
- mental illness
- physical illness
- drug or alcohol problems
- chronic or terminal illness
